On Saturday, a group of children, primarily under the age of 15, staged a protest in Ilorin, Kwara State, directed at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
In a viral video, the children were seen waving leaves and expressing their grievances about the difficulties brought on by President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Their chants included, “Tinubu. Thief. This suffering is enough. We are tired and we cannot continue like this.” Another video circulating online showed a separate group of children demonstrating in front of the Emir of Ilorin’s palace, echoing similar frustrations about hunger and the challenges stemming from APC policies.
In a related report, a commercial driver in Ilorin, identified as Wahab Ajibaye, shared his discontent regarding the escalating fuel prices. He explained how the increases have severely impacted his ability to support his family. Although he earns N20,000 daily, Ajibaye noted that after fuel costs, he only takes home about N3,000, leaving him struggling to provide for his wife and children.
He stated, “I am buying fuel for N1,100 and I make N20,000 daily, but I take only N3,000 home after work. I own my car, but I can no longer afford to take care of my family.”
Ajibaye criticized the APC government, suggesting that their policies have only intensified the suffering of ordinary Nigerians. He lamented, “Their government is bringing more suffering. They’re not ashamed, despite many Nigerians cursing them. They should reconsider their approach.”
