A businessman, identified as Sunny Taxman, has been killed by suspected kidnappers after his family reportedly paid a ransom of N10 million. The victim, originally from Alor Agu in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, had been living in Onitsha, Anambra State, where he was abducted three weeks ago.

Although the full details of the incident are still unclear, sources informed PUNCH that Taxman was kidnapped while inside his vehicle by yet-to-be-identified assailants. His lifeless body was later found dumped in a dry gutter near the RCC area at the boundary of Nkwelle Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

A source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the case, revealed that the businessman’s corpse was discovered at the scene, as captured in a video currently circulating on social media. The footage shows passers-by gathering around the body in shock.

A family source, also speaking anonymously, confirmed that the victim had spent three weeks in captivity before the ransom was paid. Despite the payment, the kidnappers still killed him. “They might have murdered him after he recognized one of them, possibly to avoid being identified,” the source speculated.

The businessman was reportedly abducted while on his way to a function. Even after receiving the N10 million demanded, the kidnappers chose to end his life, leaving the family devastated.

When contacted on Monday, Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the police were not yet aware of the incident. However, he promised to make further inquiries to gather more information.
