The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed that armed bandits attacked Kurfi General Hospital on Thursday. ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the police spokesperson, verified the incident to SaharaReporters on Friday morning but withheld specific details, stating that an investigation is underway.

The attack, which occurred in the morning, resulted in injuries to a security guard at the hospital and the abduction of four women, including the wife of a hospital staff member. The police have not yet verified the exact number of casualties or the details of the abductions. ASP Aliyu remarked, “We have received reports of an attack on Kurfi General Hospital, but further confirmation is needed regarding those involved and the specifics of the incident.”

Kurfi, previously considered a relatively secure area due to the efforts of local vigilantes supported by affluent community members, has seen a breakdown in its defenses. Some residents attribute this collapse to political disagreements among influential figures in the region.

Mannir Shehu Wurma, the chairman of Kurfi Council, also confirmed the attack and assured that the council is actively managing the situation.
