A pastor based in Anambra, Mr. Elijah Emeka Ibeabuchi, has reportedly stabbed his wife, Ogechukwu Okafor, to death. This tragic incident allegedly occurred on August 13, 2024.

According to information gathered by Tribune Online, the matter was brought to the attention of the State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare by the family of the deceased over the weekend. Concerns were raised following strange occurrences and threats from Ogechukwu’s husband.

Mr. Samuel Onuorah, the deceased’s uncle from Abatete, recounted that he received a call from Ibeabuchi, who claimed that Ogechukwu had fallen from a four-story building, resulting in her death.

However, in a quest for the truth, the family approached the Commissioner for Women Affairs, revealing that they discovered their daughter had not fallen but had instead been stabbed multiple times. Her body showed wounds to the neck and chest, consistent with knife injuries. These details came to light after the family visited the mortuary where Ibeabuchi had taken Ogechukwu’s body.

Further allegations have emerged, with the deceased’s family claiming that Ibeabuchi planned to use their newborn child for ritual purposes. During a struggle over the baby, Ibeabuchi allegedly stabbed Ogechukwu and also inflicted injuries on her palm.

The family is now calling on the state government to intervene and ensure justice for their daughter.

In response, Honourable Ify Obinabo, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, has urged stakeholders, women’s groups, human rights advocates, and the general public to lend their support in ensuring justice is served. She further assured that she would inform the governor’s wife, who she believes will personally take up the case to ensure Ogechukwu’s family gets justice.
