In a recent incident in Lagos, a man suspected of armed robbery was apprehended while another managed to flee after encountering officers from the Lagos State Police Command. The arrest took place on September 29, 2024, and was reported by the police via their X account.
The suspect, identified as Theophilus Timothy, was riding a motorcycle with an accomplice when police officers on patrol intercepted them on Coke Expressway. Upon noticing the police, the duo attempted to evade capture but only Timothy was caught after a brief pursuit.
During the arrest, officers recovered a locally-made pistol, two live cartridges, and the motorcycle with the registration number LUY 81 QM. Timothy reportedly provided valuable information to the police and is expected to face charges as the investigation proceeds.
Meanwhile, a manhunt is underway to locate the accomplice who escaped.
The Lagos State Police Command has been actively addressing the rising activities of criminal groups, including armed robbers and cultists, who have been terrorizing residents and stealing valuables. Many individuals involved in such crimes have already faced legal consequences, with several sentenced to prison.
