Just a day after the Edo State government postponed school resumption, Kano State has followed suit. On Saturday, Kano’s Ministry of Education announced the delay in the reopening of primary and secondary schools for the 2024/2025 academic session.
This development was confirmed in a statement issued by Balarabe Kiru, the Director of Public Enlightenment for the Ministry of Education. The statement cited “urgent reasons” as the cause of the postponement, although no further details were provided.
The Commissioner for Education, Umar Doguwa, explained that the postponement was necessary to ensure a more favorable learning environment for students.
At this time, a new resumption date has not been set, but the Ministry assured that it will be communicated to the public soon.
“We regret to inform pupils, students, and parents that the previously scheduled reopening on September 8th and 9th, 2024, has been postponed,” Doguwa announced.
Kiru also urged students, parents, and guardians to be patient, acknowledging the inconvenience the delay may cause.
