In traffic enforcement news, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported a week of intensive action against traffic violations. The FRSC’s ‘Operation Karara’ led to the arrest of 823 drivers, issuance of 923 fines, impoundment of 189 vehicles, and confiscation of 634 licenses and vehicle documents. This operation was designed to tackle the frequent violations of traffic lights and other regulations that contribute to road accidents and congestion in Abuja.

FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed emphasized the dangers of night driving, advising fleet operators, commercial drivers, and private vehicle owners to avoid traveling after dark. He highlighted that night trips are often fraught with poor visibility and driver fatigue, which can lead to serious accidents. While the FRSC does not have the authority to impose a ban on night driving, Mohammed urged drivers to plan their journeys for daylight hours.
