Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, has warned the current government against the illegal invasion of offices, particularly those of human rights organizations.
His comments came in response to the unlawful raid on the Abuja office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) by personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS).
In a statement to Vanguard, Falana strongly condemned the raid and urged President Tinubu to take immediate action by prosecuting those responsible. He stated, “I condemn the invasion of SERAP’s office. The Tinubu government must urgently identify the officers involved and ensure they face prosecution. The government must allow human rights defenders to carry out their work freely, in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution.”
