A 28-year-old hunter named James has been detained by the Lagos State Police for fatally shooting one person and injuring two others with a double-barrel gun. The incident occurred recently, and the exact circumstances remain unclear as of this report. The injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at local hospitals.

According to Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the shooting took place on September 8, 2024, at approximately 4:10 p.m. Hundeyin reported that James, a member of the Nigerian Hunter and Forest Security Service, accidentally discharged his weapon, hitting 18-year-old Toheeb Adebowale.

Toheeb was rushed to Ifako Ijaiye General Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The two other victims of the accident were also hospitalized at Ikeja General Hospital for their injuries.

Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed that detectives from the state police command have visited the scene. The police have taken photographs of the site, recovered the double-barrel gun, and arrested James.
