Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group based in Lebanon, has officially confirmed the death of its leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike on Friday. In a statement released on Saturday, the group emphasized that despite this loss, their fight against Israel would continue “in support of Gaza and Palestine, and in defense of Lebanon and its steadfast and honorable people.”

Earlier reports from SaharaReporters indicated that the Israeli Defense Forces claimed responsibility for the strike, describing it as a significant operation targeting Hezbollah’s headquarters in Beirut. The impact of the attack was so severe that its shockwave was felt as far as 18 miles away.

Following the announcement of Nasrallah’s death, Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV began broadcasting verses from the Quran, marking a somber moment for the group. As tensions escalate, the Israeli Defense Forces noted an overall increase in airstrikes, which has significantly affected security conditions in the region.

In light of the escalating conflict, the European Commission and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency issued warnings for airlines to avoid both Lebanese and Israeli airspace for at least the next month. This advisory comes as missile exchanges and airstrikes intensify between Israel and Hezbollah, raising concerns about safety in the region.
