Gunmen attacked the Briun community in Bou-Ko kingdom, located in the Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Tuesday night, resulting in the deaths of two residents. The incident occurred around 8 pm when the assailants launched a nighttime raid.

Bright Nwiyorde, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Ken Saro-Wiwa Surveillance Group and a local resident, confirmed the tragic event on Thursday. Nwiyorde called for a comprehensive investigation into the incident, urging authorities to bring the culprits to justice and enhance security measures in the area to prevent future occurrences.

He appealed to the state government, the Commissioner of Police, the Khana local government chairman, and local security agencies to assist the community in apprehending the perpetrators. “In Bou-Ko kingdom, we learned that unknown gunmen shot two people in Briun community last night. We do not know their identities, which is why we are urging the Government, the Commissioner of Police, the Khana local government chairman, and local security forces to investigate and ensure the offenders are held accountable,” Nwiyorde stated.

“As someone involved in security, I am also conducting my own investigation to support the government’s efforts in uncovering the truth behind this incident,” he added.
