The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has announced that the Dangote Oil Refinery is set to release 25 million litres of petrol to the Nigerian market this September.

This news follows an earlier event where Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group, unveiled the first batch of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) produced by the refinery. At the unveiling, Dangote expressed his confidence that this development will significantly transform Nigeria’s energy sector.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the NMDPRA indicated that the refinery’s output is expected to increase to 30 million litres of petrol daily starting in October.

The NMDPRA also mentioned that it had engaged in discussions with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to finalize the supply of local crude oil to the refinery. “During a meeting at the NMDPRA headquarters in Abuja, an agreement was reached for the sale and supply of crude oil to Dangote Refinery in local currency.

“The refinery is now prepared to supply 25 million litres of PMS to the domestic market in September, with plans to ramp up production to 30 million litres daily from October 2024,” NMDPRA posted on its X account.
