Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader, has recently released a video urging an end to the violence between the Fulani and Hausa communities. In the video, which was translated by PRNigeria, Turji argues that the ongoing conflict is unwinnable and will only result in more bloodshed.

Turji, known for his involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery, appealed to both Fulani and Hausa people to put aside their differences and work towards a peaceful resolution. He lamented the loss of many lives, including those of his own relatives, and claimed that his group had taken up arms only in self-defense. Turji also criticized the government and security forces for failing to protect the Fulani community, alleging that they had been targeted and killed.

The bandit leader warned that his group would continue their fight if attacks on the Fulani people persisted and suggested that community and religious leaders should play a role in peace efforts.

This plea for peace comes amid ongoing violence in the region. Recently, an amateur video showed Turji and his gang celebrating their capture of an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) belonging to the Nigerian Army. The video also showcased their substantial ammunition haul.

However, local security sources have clarified that the APC was not forcibly seized. Instead, the vehicle became immobilized in a marshy area while troops responded to a distress call following a failed reconciliation attempt between bandits and locals in Zurmi. The troops had to abandon the APC temporarily and return to their base for reinforcement and a tow vehicle.
