Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has donated ₦50 million and six speedboats to assist victims of the devastating floods in Borno State. This was revealed in a statement by Humwashi Wonosikou, the Chief Press Secretary to the Adamawa State Governor, on Thursday.
During a visit to Maiduguri, Governor Fintiri presented the donation to his Borno counterpart, Governor Babagana Zulum, while calling for increased support for the flood-affected communities. He expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and destruction of property caused by the floods and urged the federal government to take swift action to address the disaster.
In a show of solidarity, Governor Fintiri joined Governor Zulum and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on a boat ride to assess the extent of the flooding and offer sympathy to displaced persons in the state.
Governor Fintiri was accompanied by Secretary to the State Government Awwal Tukur, members of the State Executive Council, and other associates. The flooding in Maiduguri was caused by the breach of the spillway from the Alau Dam.
