Umar Faruk Abubakar, a 31-year-old computer engineer who went missing after traveling from Abuja to Ilorin, has been confirmed dead following an accident. Reports indicate that Faruk died in a collision near Ilorin.

Faruq was last seen leaving Abuja for Ilorin on August 28, 2024, and was reported missing shortly thereafter. In response, his family issued a public plea for assistance in locating him, offering a cash reward for any information that could lead to his discovery.

On Sunday, the family released a notice stating: “Umar Faruk Abubakar left Abuja for Ilorin on August 28, 2024. Since then, he has been unreachable. Anyone with useful information is asked to contact 08136570994 or 09061429206, or report to the nearest police station. A cash reward is offered for any leads.”

However, a family member later informed SaharaReporters that Faruk was involved in a fatal accident close to Ilorin on the same day he went missing. According to the relative, police from A Division in Ilorin, Kwara State, notified them of Faruk’s death after seeing the missing person report on SaharaReporters’ website.

The relative explained that Faruk’s vehicle, an eight-seater passenger van, collided head-on with a parked vehicle at Camp B, near Ilorin. Faruk and a youth corps member were both killed in the crash.
