President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially signed into law the Judicial Office Holders’ Salaries and Allowances Bill, which grants a 300% salary increase for judicial officers across both federal and state levels. This development was announced by Senator Basheer Lado, the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, in Abuja on Tuesday.

Lado emphasized that this decision underscores President Tinubu’s prioritization of the welfare of Nigerian workers, similar to his recent action in halting a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting to approve the new National Minimum Wage Bill of N70,000.

According to Lado, the new law is significant as it prescribes salaries, allowances, and other benefits specifically for judicial officers. It also amends the Certain Political, Public, and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) Act No. 6, 2002, by removing provisions related to judicial office holders.

He described the signing of the Bill as a landmark achievement, reflecting the President’s deep commitment to the well-being of Nigeria’s workforce. Lado highlighted that President Tinubu’s action showcases his dedication to ensuring fair compensation for those in critical roles, reinforcing the integrity of the justice system, and setting a higher standard for leadership in the country.

In his statement, Lado praised the administration’s focus on the welfare of workers, stating that under Tinubu’s leadership, the dignity of labor is upheld, and workers are justly rewarded. He added that this new legislation is part of the President’s broader mission to create a more prosperous and equitable Nigeria.

Lado also commended Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abass Tajudeen, and the members of the 10th National Assembly for their commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians by passing the Bill. He urged judicial officers to continue to serve justice swiftly, recognizing the President’s efforts to enhance their welfare.

In conclusion, Lado reiterated that the judiciary remains the hope of the common man and expressed hope that all Nigerians would receive justice, regardless of their status in life.
