In Abuja, a group of armed thugs, reportedly sponsored by the Nigerian government, is currently attacking #EndBadGovernance protesters. SaharaReporters has obtained a video showing these thugs, armed with guns, machetes, and other weapons, terrorizing protesters in the nation’s capital.
The violence occurred after operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian police raided a peaceful protest at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Saturday. The security forces shot at a vehicle transporting journalists from The Premium Times and The Cable newspapers.
This incident followed an earlier attack on civilian protesters by unruly police officers, who forcibly removed them from the protest site.
“We were shot at three times; it was by God’s grace that we were saved. The bullets hit the bumper of our car,” one of the journalists reported to SaharaReporters.
The protesters and journalists had gathered peacefully before the police intervened with tear gas canisters on Saturday morning.
SaharaReporters also reported that six vehicles filled with masked DSS operatives have taken control of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, where the #EndBadGovernance protest began. “Six vehicles loaded with DSS and soldiers have driven away the peaceful protesters. This is the kind of democracy Bola Tinubu has given to Nigerians,” a witness told SaharaReporters.
The tension continues as DSS operatives are seen loading their rifles and threatening to shoot anyone who persists with the protest.
Meanwhile, for the third consecutive day, Lagos State residents and the Take-It-Back Movement gathered in Ojota, Lagos State, to continue their peaceful protest under the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria banner. The demonstrators have maintained a calm and orderly presence, using slogans and placards to call for better governance and a more hopeful future for Nigeria.
