A newlywed Nigerian army officer, Captain Ibrahim Yibranii Yohana, was tragically killed alongside three other soldiers in an ambush by terrorists in Sokoto State. The attack occurred over the weekend in the Gudu Local Government Area.
Reports indicate that the soldiers were on patrol along the Kukurau-Bangi Road when they were ambushed around 4 p.m. on Saturday. In addition to the four fatalities, two other soldiers were injured during the assault. The terrorists also set fire to two of the military’s operational vehicles.
Captain Ibrahim Yohana, one of the fallen soldiers, had recently married his wife, Jossy Happiness, on November 4, 2023. The news of his death has sent shockwaves through his community and among his loved ones.
A friend of the late officer, Genesis Kaboshio Akau, expressed his grief on Facebook, reminiscing about Yohana’s past and lamenting the tragic loss. “Hmmm… my beloved predecessor back then in ABU Zaria (ESM), a very dedicated organist who loved God. As troubleless as he was, I was surprised to hear he joined the Nigerian Army… From Maiduguri to Lagos and then Niger state… Unfortunately, I heard the sad story of your departure from this realm of life. You lost your younger sister, elder brother, and now you are gone. May the LORD comfort us all… We’ll miss you dearly, beloved Captain Ibrahim Yohana (Presido Commando). Sai mu zo,” Akau wrote.
