Four soldiers tragically lost their lives in a terrorist ambush while on duty with Operation Hadarin Daji in the Bachaka Kurya Forest, located in the Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The incident, which took place near the Nigeria-Niger border, was confirmed by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, in a statement issued on Monday.

According to the military report, the troops were engaged in a fierce firefight with the terrorists during the ambush. In the encounter, several terrorists were killed, and the soldiers managed to recover a significant cache of weapons and ammunition.

The statement further revealed that the ambush was carried out by a terrorist group from Niger Republic known as Lakurawa. Unfortunately, four of the military personnel lost their lives in the confrontation. The remaining members of the terror group fled back into Niger Republic. However, the Nigerian troops are actively pursuing them with the intent to locate and eliminate the fleeing terrorists.
