On Saturday, a police patrol car from the Plateau State Command was involved in a serious accident in Jos during a high-speed chase. The officers were reportedly pursuing a Mercedes-Benz, which they believed was being driven by suspected internet fraudsters, often referred to as ‘Yahoo boys’.

The incident, which took place in the Rayfield area of Jos, was captured on video by a Twitter user known as @hope_drifter. The footage shows the police vehicle overturned, with the visible inscription on it reading, ‘DOPS Patrol-3, Plateau State Command.’

In the video, one of the officers is seen sitting on a curb, visibly injured. The officer, still in his uniform and covered in blood, appears to be holding his right hand, which seems to be either injured or broken. A voice in the background, speaking in Hausa, can be heard confirming that the officer’s hand was indeed broken during the crash.

Attempts by SaharaReporters to get a response from DSP Alfred Alabo, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, were unsuccessful, as he neither answered calls nor responded to text messages.
