In Ondo State, Mr. Ajayi Wizeman, the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), was among nine #Endbadgovernance protesters detained by security operatives.

The protesters had initially gathered at the NEPA roundabout but were directed to relocate to Archade. However, as they complied and moved to the new location, they were promptly arrested.

Despite repeated calls from Omoyele Sowore, residents of Ondo State largely ignored the #Endbadgovernance protest. Among those arrested was human rights lawyer Tope Temokun, who stated that there was no evidence of violence to justify the arrests. Temokun criticized the authorities, arguing that the arrest of peaceful protesters was an unnecessary use of force.

He further explained that the protesters had peacefully cooperated with the police by moving to the designated venue. Unbeknownst to them, the directive to relocate was a ploy to isolate and apprehend them. Temokun condemned the police’s actions, saying this deceptive approach to civic engagement erodes public trust and is a disgraceful attempt to gain favor with the government.

Attempts to reach Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the spokesperson for the Ondo Police Command, were unsuccessful as she did not respond to calls.
