The Nigerian Police Force has apprehended an Islamic cleric, Oluwafemi Idris, in Ondo State for possessing human body parts.

A source familiar with the case reported that the police discovered the gruesome items during a search of Idris’s residence in the Akoko area of the state. Among the items found were human hands, three kidneys, three hearts, a spine, and a tongue.

The source further disclosed that Idris claimed to be an Islamic cleric and revealed that some of the body parts were supplied to him by a fellow cleric, referred to as Alhaji, along with another accomplice named Samuel Kutelu. Additionally, Idris admitted to supplying three human heads to one Babatunde Kayode, also known as Oluawo, who has since been arrested alongside Kayode.

This incident follows a similar case in October last year when four Nigerians confessed to murdering individuals and trafficking their body parts for ritual purposes.

In a video shared by Instagram user Temilolasobola, the suspects, who were arrested by the Nigerian Police, detailed their gruesome activities. One of the men confessed to purchasing a human head for N20,000 from an individual named Mansuru. He explained that the head was intended for a ritual meant to bring prosperity. This was his first time engaging in such an act, as introduced by an acquaintance who remains at large.

Another suspect, identified as Monsuru Tajudeen, provided a chilling account of how he acquired and sold human body parts. Tajudeen confessed, saying, “I am the one who sold it to him. My name is Monsuru Tajudeen. It is true. This man brought his friend; we killed him and sold his head to Alfa.” He admitted this was not his first time committing such an act, having previously killed a female victim in a similar manner. Lukman, who facilitated the killing, stated that the victim had done nothing wrong but was lured under the pretense of farm work.

This case has raised significant concerns about the alarming rise in ritual killings and the trafficking of human body parts across the country.
