In a recent tweet, Hundeyin expressed strong sentiments about the influence of Western nations on Africa’s energy policies. He argued that the concern for the environment among wealthy Western individuals is insincere, suggesting that if Africa’s industrialization required extreme environmental consequences elsewhere, such as altered weather patterns or severe acid rain, it would be a fair price given the history of exploitation.
Hundeyin asserted that Africa should have full control over its hydrocarbon resources without interference from “rich white men” or climate advocacy organizations. He criticized the notion that these external actors should dictate how Africa manages its energy reserves or addresses the poverty they contributed to. While he admitted he is not a fan of Aliko Dangote’s business practices, Hundeyin claimed that he is aware of attempts by powerful Western figures to manipulate African nations for their own interests.
He challenged those in the West whose economic interests might be threatened by Africa’s move towards refining its own oil to confront Dangote directly or find someone else to handle the matter, dismissing the idea that he would be the one to do their bidding.
