A woman in Nasarawa State has been arrested for allegedly forming a robbery gang with her two biological sons. The police, under the Nasarawa State Command, made the arrest and recovered several stolen items as evidence.
The arrests were carried out by the Angwan Lambu Division, leading to the apprehension of Mrs. Khadija Umar, also known as “Naira.” She has been linked to numerous house break-ins and thefts in the area, with her two sons being key accomplices in these crimes.
According to the spokesperson for the State Police Command, Mrs. Umar played a central role in these criminal activities. She reportedly scouted potential targets, monitored residents, and when the time was right, enlisted her sons and two other accomplices—who remain at large—to execute the thefts.
During the operation, the police recovered various stolen items from the suspects. These included two television sets, two 6×6 mattresses, a gas cooker, a 12kg cylinder, a standing fan, a GoTV decoder, cooking pots, an electric jug, a refrigerator, and solar panels. These items are believed to have been stolen from several homes in the area.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests and reassured the public that the Command is committed to tracking down the remaining suspects and ensuring they face justice.
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered an immediate manhunt for the other suspects involved. He has also directed the Divisional Police Officer to ensure that those already in custody are charged to court for prosecution once the investigation is complete.
If convicted, the suspects could face several years of imprisonment.
