The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of Aribibia Fubara, a director at the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service. The incident was reported by the command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, during a press briefing on Monday.
Iringe-Koko stated that the Commissioner of Police is fully aware of the situation and has directed the immediate deployment of all tactical units. Area commanders across the state have also been alerted to ensure Fubara’s safe rescue. “The Commissioner of Police has instructed that the suspects must be apprehended and brought to justice,” she added, as reported by The PUNCH.
According to sources, Fubara was seized by a group of gunmen who approached the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt via the Okirika Waterfront in a speedboat. The attackers, reportedly numbering about six, stormed the area, firing shots into the air to create chaos.
Once on the scene, the assailants quickly singled out Fubara, forcing him into their boat before making their escape. As of Monday, the kidnappers had not yet reached out to Fubara’s family.
