The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State has confirmed the death of 16 travelers in a tragic road accident that took place on the Benin-Ore Expressway. Three others were also injured in the collision, which involved a bus and a truck.

The fatal incident occurred late Tuesday night near the Ajure community, located in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. According to reports, an 18-passenger Toyota Hiace bus and a truck collided head-on, resulting in a devastating fire that claimed the lives of 16 passengers. Despite the severity of the crash, three individuals survived.

Ondo State’s FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Ibitoye Samuel, provided further details on Wednesday, indicating that the accident was caused by excessive speeding and improper overtaking. He also noted that rescue operations were completed around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
