The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of several foreign nationals suspected of sponsoring the ongoing protests against bad governance.

This information was disclosed following a security meeting between the state’s Police Commissioner, Salman Dogo, and Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.

The protests, which began with calls to “End Bad Governance,” saw some demonstrators flying Russian flags, raising concerns among authorities. In response, security forces intensified their operations, leading to the arrests. “The police and other security agencies will clamp down on anyone attempting to tamper with the security of the state,” Dogo stated during a press briefing after the meeting.

Governor Yusuf, addressing the escalating situation, held an emergency meeting with heads of security agencies and announced a further relaxation of the existing curfew, now running from 6 am to 6 pm. “We are committed to ensuring the security of Kano State and the well-being of our citizens,” Governor Yusuf said. He assured residents that the relaxation of the curfew aims to ease the burden on the people while security forces remain on high alert to prevent further disturbances.

Authorities urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding as efforts to stabilize the situation continue. This development adds a new dimension to the nationwide protests, highlighting potential foreign involvement and its implications for national security.
