In Abuja, officials from the State Security Services (SSS) and the police used live ammunition and tear gas to disperse protesters and journalists covering the ongoing demonstrations.

The SSS officials, dressed in black uniforms and masks, arrived in several Toyota Sienna vans and began firing live rounds at the peaceful demonstrators gathered at the MKO Abiola Stadium.

This incident occurred shortly after heavily armed police officers stationed at the stadium’s main entrance had discharged tear gas to disperse the protesters. Several protesters were also subjected to harassment and arrests during this period.

Around 12:15 p.m., an SSS official, wearing a black mask, aimed his rifle at journalists covering the protests and began shooting. The bullets struck the windscreen of one Sienna vehicle and pierced the trunk of the car carrying PREMIUM TIMES correspondents who were present to report on the events.
