Gunmen, suspected to be bandits, launched a brutal attack on the home of Alhaji Sanusi Ango Gyaza, a top aide to the Katsina State Governor. The attack took place in Gyaza, within the Kankia Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State.

Alhaji Sanusi Ango Gyaza, who also served as the former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) for Kankia LGA, tragically lost his life in the raid. His wife was also killed during the attack. The assailants didn’t stop there, as they also abducted another of his wives, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

When SaharaReporters reached out to the Katsina State Police Command for a statement, the spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, responded by saying, “I will get back to you.” As of now, no further details have been provided by the authorities regarding the incident.

In a related development, SaharaReporters earlier reported that over 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, were kidnapped in Benue State. These students were on their way to attend the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) in Enugu when they were ambushed by gunmen.

The students, from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were attacked around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of Benue State. The State Police Command confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Friday morning, raising concerns about the safety of the abducted students.

One of the victims has been identified as Dr. Louis, a House Officer. The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N50 million for their release.
