In recent violent incidents in Katsina State, bandits have killed Salisu Ango, the liaison officer to Governor Umar Dikko Radda, and his first wife, while abducting his second wife. The tragic attack took place in Kankia Local Government Area on Friday night.

The bandits also carried out another assault in Shirgi Community, Batsari Local Government Area, where they killed one person, injured another, and kidnapped 28 individuals. They are reported to have stolen an unspecified number of domestic animals during this attack. According to an anonymous resident, the deceased was identified as Amadu Suru, who was shot while trying to secure his animals. The attackers reportedly targeted specific homes and took primarily women and children. Although some hostages managed to escape, 28 remain in captivity.

Earlier, the bandits targeted Gyaza village in a separate incident, where they killed Salisu Ango and his first wife. They also abducted Ango’s second wife. The attack occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, with the bandits reportedly targeting Ango’s residence. Local reports suggest the attackers claimed Ango “paid the price” for marrying a former partner of one of their members.

In another incident, bandits struck Tashar Gamji in Kankia LGA on Saturday night, seizing animals, food, and other valuables from various homes. Earlier in the week, Marabar Kankara village was also attacked, resulting in three deaths and five injuries.

Katsina State police have confirmed the attacks in Kankia, while the police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, stated that he would verify details of the Shirgi attack with the Divisional Police Officer of Batsari.
