The Sarkin Gobir of Gatawa District in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, who was taken captive by terrorists, has issued a desperate plea for assistance in a newly released video from his captors.

The Emir and his son were kidnapped in July while traveling from Sokoto to their hometown, Sabon Birni, the seat of Sabon Birni Local Government in Sokoto State. According to his son Gobir, the bandits began shooting at their vehicle upon sighting it, causing the tires to burst and the driver to lose control, leading to the vehicle coming to a halt. The bandits then abducted the Emir and his driver, who is also his son.

Following the abduction, the perpetrators demanded a ransom of N1 billion for the release of the hostages. In the video now circulating online, the Emir recounts the harrowing ordeal in Hausa, revealing that their lives are in grave danger and that they have been enduring severe conditions in the forest where they are held.

The Emir’s plea for assistance emphasizes the urgency for government intervention. Additionally, the video features a gunman dictating what the victims should say, further highlighting the dire situation they face.
