A gruesome incident took place in the Olorisaoko community, located in the Akinyele Local Government Area of Ibadan, Oyo State, where a 14-year-old boy named Malik Kareem was reportedly beheaded for ritual purposes on Saturday evening.
The victim had just completed his final subject for the West African Examination
Council at lyana Community Grammar School, Olode, Moniya, Ibadan. According to reports, Malik and three of his peers sought out a Muslim cleric, who has since absconded, for a money ritual on the same day.
It was revealed that the three boys had secretly conspired with the cleric to sacrifice their friend as part of the ritual. A family source recounted the horrific event, saying, “I was at home when one of my brothers came rushing to inform me of the tragic incident. We immediately went to the scene, only to find that the cleric had fled, and Malik’s body was found without a head.”
The source added, he victim was in a pool of blood at the cleric’s house. His head had already been burned. The three boys had previously arranged with the cleric to use their friend for the ritual.
When they arrived, he was strangled, decapitated, and cremated. According to what we were told, they planned to use the remains in their ritual.”
Following the discovery, another family member reported that unidentified youths from the area set fire to the cleric’s house in retaliation for the heinous act.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the incident. He assured the public that further details would be provided as the investigation progresses.
