Olaoluwa Adebanjo, the widower of Olubukonla Adebanjo, has shared the harrowing experience of discovering his wife murdered in Ijebu Ode. The tragic incident occurred in the Iwesi area of Ijari, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, in the early hours of Saturday, June 29.

According to reports by The Nation, Olubukonla was attacked and fatally injured by unknown assailants while she was out purchasing food items. Olaoluwa received a distress call from neighbors about the incident but arrived too late to save her.

“One of my neighbors called me and informed me of an urgent life-and-death issue,” Olaoluwa recounted. “I tried calling my wife, but someone else answered; it was the woman she had gone to buy something from. She told me to come quickly because my wife was on the floor. When I arrived on our street, I found my wife dead on the ground with the police already at the scene. They were waiting for me to identify the corpse before they could take her to the mortuary.”

Speaking to The Nation, Adebanjo expressed his heartbreak and shock over his wife’s untimely death. “I would be glad if the culprit is found as soon as possible because my wife must not have died in vain,” he said. Olubukonla leaves behind a 4-year-old child.

Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, explaining that the police responded to a distress call from the victim’s neighbor. SP Odutola detailed that Olubukonla was attacked with a machete by an unknown assailant who fled the scene when pursued.

Law enforcement promptly dispatched officers to gather evidence and take photographs at the scene. SP Odutola confirmed that Olubukonla was rushed to Ijebu Ode General Hospital for urgent medical attention but was pronounced dead upon arrival. She assured the public of a thorough investigation and that every effort would be made to apprehend the perpetrator.
