Anxiety has enveloped Ogbadibo Local Government Area in Benue State due to the recent arrest of Hon. Samuel Agada, a representative of the Ogbadibo state constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly.

Reports suggest that Agada was detained following an incident with the police while attempting to secure the release of a constituent. Witnesses allege that Agada was mistreated by the police, leading to outrage among his aides who protested the situation. There is speculation that Agada’s arrest is tied to ongoing political tensions in the state.

Agada is known for his neutrality, maintaining connections with various political factions in his constituency without showing favoritism. Comrade Ameh Ojema, a youth leader in Ogbadibo, criticized the arrest, stating, “Hon. Agada was fulfilling his duties for a constituent. He has consistently supported his people and remained impartial in the local political conflicts.” Ojema believes the arrest is politically motivated, possibly involving a faction of the Benue All Progressives Congress (APC).

Supporting this view, local youth Mr. Joseph Udo voiced his disapproval on social media, calling the arrest politically driven. “There is no basis for this arrest. Hon. Samuel Agada Awuchi is a responsible and upright individual,” Udo posted on Facebook.
