Anxiety has gripped the Ogbadibo Local Government Area in Benue State following the reported arrest of Hon. Samuel Agada, a member representing the Ogbadibo state constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly. Agada was allegedly detained after an altercation with the police while attempting to secure the release of a constituent.

Sources claim that Agada was unjustly manhandled by the police, leading to protests from his aides. It is speculated that Agada’s ordeal may be linked to the ongoing political tensions in the state.

Known for his neutral stance, Agada is respected for his unbiased engagement with all members of his constituency, regardless of their political affiliations.

A youth leader in Ogbadibo, Comrd Ameh Ojema, criticized the arrest, stating, “The arrest of the Assembly member is uncalled for as he was carrying out his constituency oversight for a constituent. He has always stood with his people and has refused to align with any political tendencies in the area.”

Ojema suggested that Agada’s troubles were politically motivated, suspecting involvement from a faction of the Benue All Progressives Congress (APC).

Another youth from Ogbadibo, Mr. Joseph Udo, condemned the arrest on his Facebook page, calling it politically motivated. He stated, “There is a difference between a big lie and a small lie, but in this case, this guy is clean. Stop the blackmailing; politics is deep. Hon. Samuel Agada Awuchi is a responsible person.”

When contacted, Benue Police Command Spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, mentioned that she did not have all the details but indicated that Agada might have been arrested for assaulting police officers.
