Nigerian singer Portable has expressed his opinion on the upcoming nationwide protest planned by various groups between August 1 and 10 to address the country’s economic challenges, especially the rising cost of living.
In an Instagram story, Portable dismissed the need for the protest, asserting that “Nigeria is okay.”
He labeled those planning to protest as “jobless” and suggested they should focus on improving their own lives instead of fighting for Nigeria. The ‘Zazoo Zeh’ singer made it clear that he would not be participating in the protest. Portable stated, “It won’t be well with anyone who tells me to perform during the protest. Don’t you have a producer too? You should collect the mic and join the protest too.”
He further added, “Please, I need money, I’m hustling. If you take your job seriously, you won’t join the protest. Fight for yourself, don’t fight for Nigeria. Nigeria is okay, you are the one who is not okay. There is money in some places, you are the one who didn’t hustle. You are the one who is not loyal to your helper.”
