Officers of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, were attacked on Friday by a group suspected to be herdsmen in Akure, the state capital. The incident occurred when Amotekun officers were transporting approximately 120 cows they had arrested for allegedly destroying farmlands in Osi and Igboba Communities in the North Local Government Area.

According to a source, the herders ambushed the officers on the Akure-Ado expressway near the Sango area, wielding dangerous weapons to prevent the cows from being taken to the Amotekun headquarters in Akure. A viral video captured some officers shooting sporadically into the air to disperse the attackers while the injured officers were quickly taken to an Amotekun Hilux van.

Jimoh Adeniken, the Public Relations Officer of Ondo Amotekun, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway. Further details will be provided as they become available.
