A Nigerian soldier, who chose to remain anonymous, has urged Nigerians to participate in a peaceful protest against poor governance.
In a voice note circulating on social media, the soldier assured that military personnel would not attack peaceful protesters.
Ahead of the planned nationwide protest in August, the soldier revealed that the military has a strategy to safeguard the demonstrators, stating that any soldier who fires upon protesters will be held accountable. He expressed frustration with the current government and noted that while military personnel are unable to protest, civilians have the right to demand change.
The soldier emphasized that security forces should protect, not harm, protesters. He encouraged Nigerians to protest peacefully, assuring them that the militaryβs plan is to prevent any violence against demonstrators.
