The state governor has announced a ₦200,000 bonus for each of the 1,600 corps members currently serving in the state. This initiative is intended to encourage the members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to remain and serve in the state.

The announcement was made during the NYSC Batch B, Stream 1 orientation ceremony held at the temporary camp in Paikoro on Tuesday. The governor highlighted that corps members who venture into agriculture could earn up to ₦500,000 monthly and revealed a ₦5 billion allocation for the establishment of a new NYSC camp.

“I was informed that there are 1,600 corps members in this batch. I am crediting each of your accounts with ₦200,000 to ensure you are comfortable and willing to stay in Niger State. This gesture is to show you the prosperity that Niger State offers. I will do my best to ensure that corps members enjoy their service year here,” the governor stated.

Furthermore, the governor has ordered the construction of additional toilets and the drilling of five boreholes in the temporary camp. He also pledged to provide 20 cows and a trailer load of rice for the welfare of the corps members in camp.
