An explosion has reportedly struck the Zungeru Hydro Electricity plant in Niger State, Nigeria. The plant, valued at N1.3 billion, experienced the incident early Monday morning, according to information gathered by DAILY POST.
Despite the explosion, Siraj Abdullahi, the Managing Director of Penstock, a subsidiary of Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, stated, “We are fine in Zungeru; nothing happened and we are on the grid.”
In April, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, announced that the 700-megawatt capacity plant had been connected to the National Grid. He also mentioned that Nigeria’s electricity supply had increased to 4,800MW from 4,200MW for a population estimated at over 200 million.
