
Several corps members were injured when a hostel wall collapsed at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Ise-Emure, Ekiti.
The incident occurred on Friday morning when the bathroom wall of a female hostel reportedly gave way, injuring several corps members who were preparing to take their baths.
The injured corps members, who are currently participating in the three-week compulsory orientation program for the one-year national youth service, were immediately rushed to the camp clinic for medical treatment.
In response to the incident, the management of NYSC has urged everyone to remain calm, assuring that the situation is under control. The NYSC addressed the public via its official social media handle on X (formerly Twitter), @officialnyscng, stating: “Management wishes to inform the general public about the collapsed convenience that occurred in the early hours of today, Friday 12th July 2024, at Ekiti State Orientation Camp in Ise-Orun, Emure Ekiti, that the situation is under control.”
