Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers shot a man named Nathaniel during a foiled kidnapping attempt by Nigerian police operatives in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The incident took place around 2 am on Wednesday in El-Rufai Estate, located in the Bwari Local Government Area of the Territory, according to sources gathered by News360 Nigeria.

The kidnappers attempted to abduct several residents before being confronted by operatives of the FCT police command in a fierce gunfight lasting about 30 minutes. The spokesperson for the FCT police command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Wednesday, stating that many of the gunmen escaped with bullet wounds.

Adeh urged the public to report anyone seen with bullet wounds to the police. “We received a distress call and mobilized operatives, who swiftly repelled the miscreants in a gun duel. Many of them escaped with bullet wounds. We are on the trail of the kidnappers, so we urge the general public to report anybody seen with bullet wounds to the police,” she said.
