A judge in Kaduna has been released by bandits, but her children remain in captivity. The kidnappers are demanding ₦150 million for their release. Dr. Musa Gimba, the judge’s husband, confirmed the release of Judge Janet Gimba but disclosed that the bandits still hold their children.

The abductors have issued a three-day ultimatum for the ransom payment, threatening the children’s lives. Tragedy struck when the Kaduna State Police Command reported the death of the couple’s 14-year-old son, Victor Gimba. His body was found on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, near Ungwan Bayero, Duste village, close to the toll gate along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

ASP Mansir Hassan, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the discovery of Victor’s body has added urgency to the rescue operations. The Kaduna State Police and other security agencies are working tirelessly to rescue the remaining hostages and capture those responsible for these crimes.

The abduction was first reported by Gloria Ballason, a human rights lawyer and CEO of the House of Justice. She revealed that about 15 abductors took the judge and her children hostage, demanding a large ransom. On July 2, 2024, the terrorists killed the judge’s 14-year-old son after the ransom could not be paid.
