Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested Oluchi Nzemechi, a 27-year-old woman from Uzoagba in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, for allegedly stabbing her husband, 31-year-old Kelechi Nzemechi, to death.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation. Oluchi admitted that her lover had introduced her to internet fraud, commonly known as ‘yahoo yahoo’.
Oluchi revealed that on June 2, she had a heated argument with Kelechi after he refused to give her a share of an alleged 250 million Rupiah they had fraudulently obtained from a victim in Indonesia. During the argument, she stabbed him with a kitchen knife.
In an attempt to cover up her actions, Oluchi wrote a note and placed it on Kelechi’s lifeless body. The note read, “You think you can eat my money and go free, I am baba for the boys, I am coming for your wife and your child including your family.” She then fled the scene.
Oluchi also disclosed that she had been living with Kelechi since 2019 and they have a child together.
ASP Okoye stated that efforts are underway to recover the alleged 250 million Rupiah for possible return to its rightful owner. He added that the suspect is currently undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will be arraigned in court soon.
