Popular Facebook influencer Ogeche Njaka has once again dragged a certain Maryam Shehu, the Nigeria Police Interpol unit, alongside the FG to the ECOWAS seeking a lot of reliefs and reparations to the tune of one million dollars only.
In two separate applications filed before the ECOWAS court – one initiating application and the other an expedited application seeking immediate interim reliefs – Ogeche Njaka, in the suit marked with number ece/ccj/app/18/2024 filed before the ECOWAS court, is seeking declarations from the ECOWAS court to nullify the wanted declaration notice issued by the IGP and Interpol unit declaring her wanted in this regard.
She also accused all the defendants of publishing and declaring her wanted via a special gazetted police bulletin and placing her name and picture on the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) notice board without a valid court order. Ogeche Njaka, in the suit filed, has the Federal Republic of Nigeria herein representing the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Interpol, Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), and one Maryam Shehu as respondents.
Ogeche Njaka, in her recent suit filed at the ECOWAS court, also seeks reliefs against all these parties mentioned for allegedly violating her fundamental human rights to presumption of innocence, fair hearing, and her right to personal liberty.
Furthermore, the suit filed through her Nigeria-based lawyer is seeking from the regional ECOWAS Court in Abuja to compel the FG, mainly representing other defendants, to pay her N100 million dollars for the βphysical, mental, emotional, psychological, and other damagesβ she suffered as a result of the alleged infringements on her constitutional and recognized rights.
She also asked the court to void the trending online wanted declaration notice and Nigeria Police/Red Notice Interpol special gazetted notice declaring her wanted for a non-criminal offense of defamatory issues between her and Maryam Shehu, to which the Nigeria Police involved themselves.
