In a significant operation on Saturday, troops from the Nigerian Army, under Operation UDO KA, conducted a successful raid on a camp belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its security network in Igboro Forest, Arochukwu LGA of Abia State.

The raid aimed to apprehend those responsible for the recent attack and killing of soldiers in Aba, which included three soldiers from the South East. The army’s statement, posted on its X account on Sunday, detailed the objectives and outcomes of the operation.

During the raid, six IPOB members were neutralized, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. The troops encountered improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the operation, resulting in a minor injury to one soldier. Despite these challenges, the soldiers subdued the attackers with superior firepower.

The troops recovered a variety of weapons from the camp, including three locally fabricated rocket-propelled grenade launchers, two locally fabricated artillery guns with tripods, bombs, and dane guns. Additional items such as Biafran flags and Toyota Tundra and Hilux vehicles were found and subsequently destroyed. The camps, marked with various inscriptions, were also demolished.

The Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA urged the residents of Abia to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely information to help eliminate the criminals in the state and the entire South East region. Citizens were encouraged to report any information by dialing 193 and selecting Option 2 on their phones.

The operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Army to maintain security and stability in the region, addressing the threats posed by IPOB and similar groups.
