Finidi George has revealed why he decided to quit his role as head coach of the Super Eagles. Finidi submitted his resignation letter to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Saturday, following the NFF’s announcement that it would hire a foreign technical adviser to lead the team.

In a video posted on social media, former Super Eagles media officer Colin Udoh confirmed he had spoken with Finidi about his decision. “Finidi confirmed to me that he resigned his position indeed,” Udoh said. “The reason being that he met with the NFF on Thursday, and they had a very good conversation. They spoke about the things they need to do going forward and he (Finidi) asked if he will be back.”

Udoh explained that during the meeting, no one mentioned the appointment of a foreign technical adviser. The NFF board had made that decision on Wednesday, but Finidi only learned about it after arriving in Port Harcourt when someone informed him of the news. “He (Finidi) had to park his car and read the link to see that it actually was true,” Udoh added.

Finidi waited for two days to see if anyone from the NFF would contact him, but when no one did, he felt unwanted and decided to resign.
