The military aircraft carrying Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima, which went missing on Monday, has been found. According to DAILY POST, the plane, which was transporting the Vice President along with nine others, including former First Lady Shanil Dzimbiri, failed to land on Monday morning.

The group was en route to Mzuzu to attend the funeral of a prominent Malawian lawyer, former Attorney General, and Justice Minister Ralph Kasambala. Following the disappearance, President Lazarus Chakwera ordered regional and national forces to launch an immediate search and rescue operation.

DAILY POST reports that the Dornier 228 military plane was discovered in the Chikangawa Forest early on Tuesday. Tragically, all passengers on board are reportedly dead.

In a statement issued on Tuesday morning, Press Secretary to the President, Anthony Roggers Kasunda, announced that President Chakwera would address the nation shortly.
