A former militant in Rivers State, General Gabriel Asabuja, has issued a stern warning to the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Council, Engr. Samuel Nwanosike, urging him to cease insulting Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Asabuja cautioned Nwanosike to stop debasing the Governor’s office or face serious repercussions. He emphasized that Nwanosike must vacate his office upon the expiration of his tenure on June 17, 2024.

Asabuja criticized Nwanosike’s behavior, stating it is inappropriate for a local council chairman to insult a duly elected governor. He described Nwanosike as a young and disrespectful individual who, because of his position, insults elders. Asabuja firmly stated that this behavior must end.

The ex-militant vowed to confront Nwanosike if he fails to leave office by the stipulated date. He highlighted that the youths of Rivers State would not tolerate continued disrespect towards the Governor and other state elders.

“It is time to put Nwanosike in his place. Let him be prepared for us on June 17 when his tenure ends. We will meet him at Isiokpo. We urge the government and security agencies to allow us to deal with Nwanosike. We want to see who has more power. His empty boasts are too much. Has he fought in the creeks? Has he handled arms? If you think you can insult Amaechi, Omehia, and other notable elders and get away with it, this time you will not,” Asabuja stated.

He further declared unwavering support for Governor Fubara, emphasizing that the Governor was elected by the people and deserves to complete his tenure. Asabuja assured that they would defend Fubara against any threats or intimidation.

“Governor Fubara must complete his eight years just as previous Ikwerre leaders did. Rivers State is not owned by one person. Let Wike allow Governor Fubara to govern without distraction. The people of Rivers are behind him, and no amount of threat will make him surrender. I stand with leaders like Asari-Dokubo, HRM Ateke Tom, and Solomon Ndigbara. We stand with the Rivers electorate who elected Governor Fubara,” he added.

Asabuja concluded by warning that any council chairman who refuses to hand over power at the end of their tenure would face their wrath. “We will chase them wherever they go, and we will defeat them,” he declared.
