The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has raised concerns over the presence of soldiers at the venue of its meeting with the federal government. According to a post on its official Facebook page, soldiers are currently at the premises of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The NLC further stated that “any attempt to intimidate, blackmail labour leaders at the negotiation table will be resisted while strike action will be further prolonged.”

The NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are on strike to protest the proposed minimum wage of N60,000, while the NLC is demanding N494,000. Major sectors of the country have been shut down due to the strike action. The government has yet to comment on this development as of the time of this report.
